For my final project I threw on the wheel to create a dog bowl. My favorite part was how fast it was. Once I got the hang of it I made this bowl in one day. I am also really proud of the bottom of this bowl. This was my first attempt at trimming and I think that it went very well. The one thing that I struggled with the most was centering.
Slab Project
For this project I used the slab method to create a cookie jar. I learned that the slab method is good for making things sturdy. This wasn't my original plan with the dots on top, I was originally going to make a coil on top but it kept cracking so I made a cookie type design on the top of it.
Coil Pot
In this project I learned that you can use the coil method to get height. I made an eight inch coil pot using slipping and scoring. I found getting it to stand up straight was the hardest part for me. I tired to make a design with the underglaze but it didn't look very good.
Throwing on the wheel
This project we were required to make on six inch tall cylinder and one bowl. The hardest part of this project was centering the clay. I am really proud of how these things turned out.
Stamps
The project was to make one stamp with a design and another with our initial. The purpose of this was to give us something so we can identify our projects as our own. The other was to give our projects texture.
Pinch pot
In this project I had to use at least three individual pinch pots to make one cohesive piece. I used tools to create visual texture. I also ran into a problem with the rim of the piece so I fixed that by adding coils and the cool spiral. I also had problems with getting the coils to not crack so I used a lot of water and tried to let it dry as slowly as possible. In the end this project fell apart completely. I did learn that the coils on the rim were too thin and that the feet were not attached the best.
